History
The G&L Group of companies started as the modest “G&L”
over forty years ago by a young Italian husband and wife
team eager to make their living and prosper in Canada.
Operating out of a small property in Thornhill, Ontario,
the young ambitious couple delivered concrete and stone
using a single truck and began slowly building their client
base on a foundation of honest hard work and excellent customer
service.
As the years passed and the business grew, it was clear
they could no longer do it alone. Soon, Tony Pellegrini
joined Joe Lamanna to continue to grow the business while
Joe’s 1st partner and wife raised the family. It was
not long before Toronto Redi-Mix was born and rapidly developed
into THE independently owned quality ready-mix supplier
in the city
As the years went by, this single company started by 2
has developed to a “group” of companies actively
expanding and servicing the growing demands of the construction
industry in the Greater Toronto Area.
Toronto Redi-Mix has developed into the largest and most
technologically advanced Independent Ready-Mix supplier
in Ontario. By 1995, Toronto Redi-Mix had proudly grown
to 30 trucks and with equal ambition and pride, Joe’s
son and son-in-law merged as partners in the group business.
Robert and Pat would continue to build the businesses in
exciting ways. Robert would continue to develop and grow
the thriving Toronto Redi-Mix and Pat continued to grow
the niche business, Draglam Salt which had been founded
earlier in 1991.
At that time Draglam Salt opened its 1st location, the
only company offering 24/7 service at that time. Today,
Draglam Salt has grown to numerous locations servicing the
GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and surrounding cities and leading
the way in de-icing product & service offerings as part
of the G&L Group.
The year 1997 brought exciting changes and much new growth
with the addition of 3 new companies:
Brock Aggregates was founded by the four partners to provide
the industry with quality aggregates and exceptional customer
service.
Earthco Soil Mixtures was added to the mix, offering the
industry fertile soil products and viable soil services
including on-site screening and soil processing.
With a vision for the future, Draglam Waste & Recycling
was also added to the group filling a much required need
for waste collection, waste transfer and recycling services
to more than 300 commercial construction and industrial
clients in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). Draglam Waste
is poised to be the leader in recycling technologies and
committed to excellence in all areas of environmental management.
The year 2000 brought the addition of New Century Homes.
With advanced home building techniques and the Group’s
experience and expertise in the construction industry, New
Century Homes fulfilled a vision for creating homes with
excellent craftsmanship and detailed quality custom home
building.
The most recent addition in 2004, fulfilled a dream. Devils
Den Golf Centre designed to be the most efficient and enjoyable
experience possible displays the ultimate in excellence.
A one-of-a-kind driving range with the most exceptional
undulating greens for the most discerning golfer to work
on his short game, rough or bunker in style. Already Durham's
finest golf practice facility, in 2005 Devil's Den expanded
with the introduction of outdoor beach volleyball. Future
plans include a Championship Golf Course.
Together, Toronto Redi-Mix, Brock Aggregates, Earthco Soils,
Draglam Salt, Draglam Waste & Recycling, New Century
Homes and Devils Den Golf Centre form The G&L Group.
Based on a foundation of quality product and exceptional
customer service, The G&L Group has grown to over 200
employees and 20 locations. Always growing with an edge
for innovation, the Group continues to service the construction
industry with exceptional products and services.
G&L Group continually aims to be the industry trusted
& preferred provider of superior products, exceptional
customer service and innovative solutions while taking advantage
of and enjoying the opportunity to grow in the thriving
business climate of the greatest city in Canada.
